MUKTIRO MONDIRO SHOPANO TOLE: Wiki-Bengali Graphics Enhanced Karaoke

HOMAGE
A song that pays homage to those who went to prison and sacrificed their life for the cause of liberty and justice. Although the song was written in the Indian context, the appeal and lyrics of the song are universal. It is relevant everywhere and in all ages, wherever there is oppression and injustice. This karaoke is in Wiki-Bengali (wb) script.

KARAOKE IN WIKI-BENGALI

For karaoke in Roman script, the standard of Wiki-Bengali is preferable because of the huge influence the Wikipedia and the Internet. It is phonetic, easy to follow and very faithful to the present day standard pronunciation.

Wiki-Bengali uses extended roman script-set to avoid ambiguity between open and closed e, open and closed o, dental and retroflex t etc., although for the people with expert knowledge in Bengali, it can be written in characters without diacritics, by using a simple English typewriter keyboad or a computer English key-map.

Some guidance on wiki-bengali can be found here:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bengali_language#Romanization

Some characters:
o: (mon=mind) as in English go
ô: môt=opinion) as in pot in British English
e: (tel=oil) as in English met
ê: (gêlo=went) as 'a' in English bat
y: (kôyla=coal)as in English boy (I use y if I hear a clear 'য়' (yô ) sound, as e/- may create confusion with e)
~: (chãd=moon) nasalization of vowels, as in Portuguese pão (=bread)
ţ: (ţano=pull) as in English table (without aspiration)
t: (tôkon-then) as in French tu
đ: (đakat=robber) as in English dog
d: (dôl=party) as in Spanish adios

Long 'a', long 'i' and long 'u', used in other indic languages, are redundant and misleading in modern spoken Bengali. Hence the combinations 'aa', 'ee' 'oo' etc.,are incorrect in Wiki-Bengali. Shongit(=song) as a Bengali word should not be written 'Sangeet'.
